Re: Sterly with 32" tubes

Must have had more than the usual number of orders for 32" sterlingworths around that time. My 64202 also has 32" barrels.

Re: 1912 Pin gun with Ejectors

I've got a pin gun ejector with 30" barrels, but I don't recall the serial number. I'll have to pull it out and check. It's probably already on the list. One of the ejectors' face broke away from the shaft. I don't suppose that is an easy fix.

Re: What did you add to your NON-FOX collection in 2016?

I picked up a few non Foxes last year. 3 L.C. Smiths and one British gun. I tend to lean towards the longer barrel guns so one of the Smiths was a Grade 2 with 32" tubes, another was a 30" Grade 3, and the last was a straight grip 32" Field Grade. The FG had an ivory bead and what app...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

I have to take off for a while, Drew. When I get back I'll weigh the 66,007 barrels. It has 3" chambers that may or may not be factory.

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

Thanks Drew, the stock might not have been cut. I hope my scale is reading right. If it is the barrels alone (with the extractor) weigh 4 lbs, 2 oz.

Re: Doing your homework (shipping precautions)

Good advice, Frank. I bought a Syracuse grade 3 shotgun off a guy who was working away from home, so he had his parents ship it to me. I talked to him a bit about how to package it. It arrived in a box with no padding, just the shotgun in one piece in the box. I was surprised there wasn't any real d...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

The Sterlingworth that I posted about above showed up. #64,202 has matching numbers and 32" barrels. Perhaps they went to the 0 in the hundredth spot between this and my #66,007 ejector. The stock has a 13 3/4" LOP from the front trigger to the end of the wood at the center of the butt and ...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

This is an interesting thread. I don't know if the 0 in the hundreds slot is a rule, but if it is I have one on the way that may prove to be the exception. This one is a bit earlier than #66,007, the ejector I mentioned in my previous posts. I've only seen one poor picture, but I'll have it in hand ...

Re: Foxes with Reversed Triggers

Sorry Bill, I haven't checked this thread since I posted and didn't realize you had asked a question. I think it was you who pointed out on the Parker site that T.H. Keller of New York, New York was a professional shooter. That DH was shipped to him in 1903.

Re: Foxes with Reversed Triggers

AmarilloMike, I've got a DH 12 with right full and left cylinder chokes in 30" barrels. Its a 1 1/2 frame at an even 7 lbs. It lettered as correct and was originally sold to a pro shooter. I've often wondered what he used a set up like that for.

Re: Bo Whoop found and for sale at Julia's

I've got an AE with an ivory forend tip that looks like the one in the photos. Maybe it is Nash's long lost upland gun, Bo Peep. Seriously though, how common was the ivory forend tip and was it a standard factory option? Would it be mentioned in a letter? Thanks.

Re: 2-5/8 chambers ?

There is an interesting picture on page 90 of McIntosh & Trevallion's book Shotgun Technicana. It shows a HE Superfox that came into the shop with 1/2 of the rib extention broken off. They say a .003" gap between the rotary bolt and rib extension led to the failure. They felt that the wear ...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

Bill, that gun was owned by my buddy from Ontario that checked out the Sterlingworth for me. I'll pm his name to you and you can contact him through the PGCA website member list. I've seen quite a few pictures that Epps wouldn't have and it is a fine looking Parker and a great shooter by his reports...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

Thanks for the info, Frank. I spoke with a friend from Ontario who had shared a blind with the previous owner and even taken a few shots with it before it was put up for sale. You're very right, it is a small world and the internet makes it smaller. Not too many years ago I wouldn't even have known ...

Re: 32" sterlingworths??

#66,007 that I mentioned in the post above was the one from Epps. I bought it off them about a year ago and it is still with me in Canada. Had it out about a week ago and it still gets the birds. I haven't got around to getting a letter on it yet, but I expect it would be a trap ejector like Abner's...
