Sterly with 32" tubes
Sterly with 32" tubes
What is this groups opinion of the scarcity of a Philly Sterly wearing 32" tubes, as opposed to shorter barrels?

12-gauges not all that unusual.
16-gauges more scarce.
20-gauges rare.

Thanks Dave! I should have specified that the gun is a 12. Just bought it, looks like about 80% original condition with the exception of an ugly "Ranger" pad screwed to the butt....thankfully, they did not shorten the butt...will post pics here when in hand! BTW its #64236

That is interesting. Most (but not all) of the 12-gauge Sterlingworth Traps I've recorded have a zero in the hundreds place of the serial number.
My feeling is that in 12-gauge Sterlingworths 30-inch barrels are most common, followed by 28-inch barrels, with 26- and 32-inch barrels pretty close for third and fourth place.

Re: Sterly with 32" tubes
Is there any identification on the gun that would indicate that it was a "trap" model?

No. Brush (26-inch), Field (28-inch), Standard (30-inch) and Trap (32-inch) are just what the company called them.
Roe Clark only did black & white copies of the card when asked. John Callahan did a color copy.

Must have had more than the usual number of orders for 32" sterlingworths around that time. My 64202 also has 32" barrels.
