Re: Lets talk aesthetics in restocking

Most of the older gun stocks have a certain flow to them that we have been accustomed to and for what ever reason we find them attractive. Something like this is sort of like making an old Ford into a hot rod, it ain't for everybody but it does require a certain amount of artistry. Just doing the st...

Re: Back boring 16 gauge Sterlingworth

+1 on the choke tubes. A few years back I picked up a Model 21 that a previous owner had Briley thread the barrels on. With 7 thin wall lead tubes and 2 steel shot tubes it is without a doubt the most versatile gun in the safe. Non original barrels also made it affordable for an average guy.

Capped pistol grip, shape of both the safety and the top lever on your gun are the earlier style.

Re: Sterlingworth bead size

Should be silver color and .115 +/-. I would suspect that it has at some point been replaced.

Re: Request for advice

From the photo it appears to have a bit of rust on the outside. That would indicate that the inside probably also lacks lubrication. Is the extractor split in the middle? If it is then you have an ejector gun and your problem may have something to do with the ejectors. If that's the case have a guns...

Re: Broken Ejector Guide Pin Removal

I saw a guy at the trap range use one of those magnets on the receiver of an A5 Browning near the ejection port, as a shell catcher. I was amazed at how strong those things are.

I watched it twice, good cover of a Dylan song. Too blurry to put a name on the guns or the decoys, but David Crosby looks like a normal guy back then.

Re: Fox Sterlingworth

Appears to be "engraved" via center punch. Certainly a conversation starter at the hunting camp.

Re: My first fox

Looks like the grip cap is missing. That can be replaced easy enough, Just curious, what is the drop at heel measurement?

Re: Serial number question

You probably won't get a lot of information on a Sterlingworth but they should give you a shipping date.

Re: Iver Johnson

Just recently found a Hercules at an auction (at the right price) in need of some TLC, for a winter project. Upon disassembly I was impressed with the quality and design. Seems to be as solid as the other major manufacturers of the time. Not able to find any info on dating the gun but it is a choppe...

The 4 is for full choke, nice looking gun. I would have given up on the bait too, but then I really don't get ice fishing.

Mine finally arrived today after the mail lady fought the dogs off to get to the door. They'd leave her alone if she quit feeding them biscuits.

Re: Fox Model B 20 ga marked as 16ga

Certainly not common. I can't think of it adding any value to the gun. What size do the chambers and bores mic at? 16 gauge bores should be about .667, chambers +/- .735.

Do the serial numbers match on barrels and frame?
