Re: Groundhog Day 2015

ROMAC HA what a great "Groundhog Day" experience for a Fox collector. Attending GH day in Punxsutawney is a fond Straub beer drinking memory for me. The collegiate drinking festivities are somewhat different today than when I attended from what I hear. WPGRIFFON Yes. Yes they are.....but ...

Re: Fox CE 16 Ga.

So it listed for $107 and change? I'll give you $150.00 cash right now. Ha...what a beauty. Like someone else said, a definite "Holy Grail." Recently entered the Fox world (like I needed another obsession) and am looking forward to finding a companion or two for my lonely looking Sterlingw...

Re: New Fox Owner....

Very nice indeed......lmao, just noticed your sig. Years ago my wife and I were waiting at customs to drive in to Canada. She looked at me and asked "what should I do with my gun?" I nearly sh*t myself. Well, we must be pretty good smugglers, got in and out with no problems, but that was k...

Re: New Fox Owner....

Sounds like a nice gun. I'm new both here and to Fox as well and have gained a lot of knowledge and insight in my few days here. So congrats and good luck. Warning; These guns seem to all come with a certain incurable virus which I believe I've contracted. The only thing you can do evidently is sear...

Re: Anyone into Llewellins?

Those are beautiful dogs and those are some vey classy looking points. In terms of bidable-ness and over all demeanor would you owners classify them as similar to the English setters? I'm very much a novice to the pointer game and have owned one Britt whose faults were fairly few and all mine. His l...

Awww....she looks like a sweet old girl! I'm sure she's missed but just as sure she was well loved and cared for. Miss my old Brit fiercely. Congrats on the bird.

Thanks all........nice to hear all the positive comments.....impulse has gotten the best of me in the past but I feel like I did okay after checking listed prices online.

Re: New guy with questions on my new Fox

By 1926 the Sterlingworth Standard (30-inch barrels) was catalogued with right barrel modified, left barrel full, though other chokes were an option. Since the late 1980s there has been lots of discussion among vintage double shooters over case length, pressure, payloads, etc. I've gotta believe th...

Re: New guy with questions on my new Fox

Your Sterlingworth was made to shoot 2 3/4" shells, the factory maintained a chamber length of 2 5/8" (it was believed the short chamber would result in better gas seals or so the thinking goes). Many people shoot Remington game club shells in 1oz for target work. A better and lower press...

New guy with questions on my new Fox

Recently purchased a Fox Sterlingworth at a gun show......as I explained in my intro post in another forum here, my approach has been a little backwards.....all my research has been done post purchase. From what I've seen I don't believe I over paid, at least not greatly, for the gun. Even if I did ...

Hi. New both to the site and Fox....pics added

I recently purchased my first Fox (Sterlingworth) at a gun show. In my usual bass ackwards way of doing things most of my research came after the purchase.....it's how I roll, ha. I guess a little history by way of self introduction is in order. My first double was an old Stevens SxS 12 ga. that I h...
