Re: Case Colors on the Fox Guns
Dewey Vicknair (Vicknair Restoration) completely restored an A grade for me and the color case hardening is amazing as is the rest of the Fox.
It is not my most expensive shotgun, but I enjoy it as much as any that I own.

Are there are differences mechanically, other than the forearm hardware, between a graded Fox Philadelphia gun and the Sterlingworth Philadelphia gun ??

Re: Pheasant hunting shot size recommendation
Since I'll not be hunting over dogs and I don't like to carry two different shells, I order the #6s in the RST Paper.
Thanks to everyone for their advise.

I have a Fox A grade with 30" barrels and choked LM and IM and I plan on purchasing some 2-1/2" RST shells from Classic Upland Supply.

Re: trigger pull
Dewey Vicknair of Vichnair Restoration, who did the original restoration work of my Fox, saw this forum post and called me. Dewey recommended sending the Fox back to him and he would adjust the triggers a no charge. Dewey's restoration work is superior to anyones I've ever seen and, as per the phone...

Re: trigger pull
Twice Barrel,
I looked in a British gun fitting book I have and it said the trigger pull should be 3# on the front trigger and 3-1/2# on the back one for a target gun.
It suggested a little heavier for a hunting gun.

They did said it was time consuming because they had to make the adjustment and assembly the action to see check it. This had to be done several times to get it right !!!!! So ...

shooting SxS advice needed
I have alway shot single sighting plane shotguns ( O/U, Semi-Auto and Pumps) and have considered myself an above average wing shooter. However I can't seem to get the hang of shooting a SxS. I once again took my 20 ga. SxS dbl triggered gun to a preserve to shoot quail and was embarrassing myself un...

Opening up the chokes question
I purchased an A grade Fox with nice stock dimensions for me and I am having Dewey Vicknair completely restore this Fox. It is choked Full & Mod. and I am thinking about opening up the chokes to IC & Mod or even Skeet & IC. I don't want to devalue the gun after the restoration, however I...

Disassembly and assemble question
I had a problem, but I disassembled my Sterlingworth again and found one of the sears was not properly assembled the 1st time. Question answered..........
I was able to remove the auto-safety rod and reassembly the Fox per this sites very easy to understand instructions.

generic SxS barrel shortening question?
I don't think I would ever consider doing this to one of my Fox Shotguns, but I'm considering shortening the barrels from 28" to 23" on an inexpensive Russia SxS for my Cowboy Action Shooting.
Would this necessarily change the Point of Impact ?
