Re: It ain"t no Fox

A terrific photo, Jess. I am even more impressed by the description of how you got the photo and the behavior of the pack.

Re: Value question

After a bit of a wait I recieved two letters from Mr. J. T. Callahan regarding my two Fox 16 gauge guns. The C grade (no. 300004) that I posted about is shown in the Fox records as: Grade - C Grade Gauge - 16 gauge Barrels - 28" choked Imp Cylinder (R) and Imp. Modified (L) Stock - 13-1/4"...

Re: Fox Gunsmith Specialist

One of the best double gun smiths is Dennis Potter in Muskego, WI. 414-425-4830. Dennis has done good work for me.

Re: Kautzky Auto Single Trigger

I have an old 'Infallible' single trigger from a Fox. Not a Fox product, which I reckon has been out of production for some years.

Re: Fox Skeleton Butt Plates

Tom

Thanks for the link. DOes this have the usual 'widow's peak' on the heel? Any other photos or sources of photos?

I am considering a restock on my C grade 16 (I would keep the original wood with the gun), and I like checkered buts on my guns.

Thanks again.

Fox Skeleton Butt Plates

I would be most appreciative if anyone with photos of Fox skeleton butt plates would post photos of them. Please identify grade of gun.

Many thanks.

Re: Value question

Tim - The first bird I shot over his point was a ruffed grouse. He has pointed and handled them many times. I also ran him on woodcock in MI cover this Fall and he adapted and did just fine. His education is pretty much complete - a lot of drive time from Washington state to Oklahoma and Texas to Mo...

Re: Value question

Sorry to be late to this party but I've been busy. I can't believe that with over 55,000 serial numbers that I've made available you guys aren't taking advantage of the information that I've been archiving for the past 2 years. Fox 300004 is listed on the Research page of the Griffin & Howe sit...

Re: Value question

Mike, given my vast knowlege of Foxes, I'd give it a value of about $1,000.00 us....... I'd be happy to wire you the funds from my Nigerian uncles bank account. I will expect a 600 day inspection period. And while your sending me the gun, you might as well crate up the dog with the crooked tail, I ...

Re: Sterlingworth safety difficult to move...

An acetone bath is a pretty extreme move to remove oil from the head of the stock. Removing the stock and using a heat gun and whiting powder will (with a number of cycles of heat and powder application, followed by wiping with a cloth) remove a lot of oil. As for your safety slide, my bet is that t...

Re: Value question

Nice looking gun ..and still very desireable...Id love to own it....but I think the barrels have been re-blued and the wood redone including checkering... Possibly. Hard to tell if it is an old refinish job if done well, The metal is not proud of the stock wood, so if it is a refinish, it was done ...
