Brett,
Sounds like a great trip minus the temps. Curious what Rosey and the rest of the dogs are? I imagine you are not running pointers if birds are busting out of range?

Re: 2024 Maine and NH uplands
Great pics! Love the last pic of Bella w/her head resting on the log! Tell us about the 16 S&U please. Barrel length and chokes. That would be a great gun. Envious that you hunted 12 days straight!! I laughed when Bella placed her chin on the fallen tree. Figured it would make a good pic though...

2024 Maine and NH uplands
The girls and I wrapped up the season last week. I managed to take almost a month off straight from work this year. I'd guess we moved 300 birds or so. We spent 12 days strait, at two camps in Northern Maine. Normally I break the trips up into two. Grouse numbers were good but the drought conditions...

Re: What, no upland hunters with Foxes?
I'm on it! Had my 16 and 20 out this week doing some damage in Maine and NH. Heading to the Canada border next week for two weeks to trudge the uplands. See what else we can do. Be honest though, a Parker is going with us as well. I was hoping and looking forward to having my 16 AE finished up from ...

Re: Skeet and Upland
The short answer is no. If someone with access to the records went through them and counted them up the answer is knowable. Roe Clark counted up the graded 16- & 20-gauge guns for McIntosh's book, but he didn't break out the Skeet & Uplands from other SP-/SPE-Grades for the 16-gauge. From m...

Skeet and Upland
Does anyone know how many Skeet and Upland models were produced? Production numbers by gauge? Sterlingworth vs. SP

Re: What to do with this 20 gauge Fox Sterlingworth?
Is this a 1928 PRODUCTION shotgun that shipped in 1933? How well does Timberluxe work, especially on a finish such as this? Value? TImberluxe is great stuff. I have nothing but positive felling's on the stuff. I would work the first couple coast with some very fine bronze wool. I apply the stuff wi...

For the next pad install, a Silvers would be an OEM type pad for the proper vintage available at Galazan.

A CE 16 with short barrels is on my want list. Maybe Santa could help out soon?

Northeast Uplands 2023
A tough year most places in the Northeast for chasing the king as many know. Poor spring conditions did not help the population. We still looked forward to a couple annual trips to the north country and almost a month off of vacation during bird season. We found birds but it took some burning of som...

I figured this was yours when I saw Matt's post. Looks great! Will look even better with a few bagged ruffys and doodles in a photo.

A short barreled CE 16 or possible 20 would be nice to take along for some walks in the uplands.

Re: My new to me 16g Sterlingworth
This gun seems to be choked Mod/Full. I would like to use it for preserve birds and maybe the occasional trip to Michigan for woodcock and grouse. Being a Sterlingworth and not a graded gun, would it be okay to send the barrels away and have them opened up to make it a more of a usable gun? If so, ...

Re: Pheasant Loads
Boss shells are very stout. Not recommending them in any old small wristed guns. They make great shells but not in a vintage fox with old wood. Never mind they are 2 3/4". Unfortunately, it might be time to choke up a bit and get out the modern auto loader.
