Was shooting better than usual with a new acquisition yet felt this vintage Fox was a bit short in terms of length of pull. A visit to the gun-fitter and our trip to the five stand range quickly demonstrated that an extra inch or so in length was ideal. After a brief separation while in the shop, this A Grade returned with a new pad expertly installed. It has been happy times ever since. A tip of the cap to Paul Frost for his excellent fitting while preserving the original shape of the end of the stock in adding a new pad. Enjoying slightly less recoil and greater accuracy. Very pleased. Before and after images below. Due to the care in the work, this gun may be restored to fully original condition with ease.

Re: Gun Fitting New Pad
So often when someone installs a pad, they cut the stock which eliminates the slight concave. It’s nice that you and your gunsmith left it original. If you take it hunting, please send us some pictures. Happy shooting!

Re: Gun Fitting New Pad
For the next pad install, a Silvers would be an OEM type pad for the proper vintage available at Galazan.

Re: Gun Fitting New Pad
Wanted to preserve this 115 year old classic and the smith was fully understanding of this request. Only had time for one hunt after the new pad was added but it was terrific. Already looking forward to the upcoming season.
Zachery,
Your suggestion may prompt a search for another Fox.
