That is great to know, thank you Mr. Jeff! I've always been a fan of Kent shells. I certainly hope I can post some waterfowl pics with her before long. I am also hopelessly addicted to turkey hunting and can't wait to try and take a gobbler with her. I'm sure I will be looking for advice on what loads you guys recommend for that when it comes closer to Spring.

I am on the same journey to acquire a H/ SF. Get the card if it is available. Then, if this is not conclusive, look at the engraving and compare it to the simple engraving of other H/ SF, that is a good place to start. It is subtle, but H/ SF engraving is distinctly different from simple A Grade engraving. Harder still is measuring the receiver and barrels, McIntosh describes this in his book. Also, others e.g. Researcher, on this forum can offer more knowledgable advice and resources.

I have a case of those shells but have been reluctant to put them through my Super Fox as I was of the opinion they would be too high of a pressure loading for these old guns?

Once again, your SF has digested many loads like that in it's lifetime. It's the recoil against the head of the stock which might cause damage. The old girl should be able to handle it.

When I got my Super-Fox in 1963, it came with three boxes of 1947 vintage Remington Arrow Express 12-gauge 3-inch Magnum 1 5/8-ounce loads #4, #5 & #6. Back at the time I shot up the #4 & #5s, but the half full box of #6s was still in my father's house when I cleaned it out in 2003 & 4.
I never heard of the 1 3/8-ounce, 12-gauge, 3-inch loads until the late 1980s or early 90s.

I wound up purchasing a case of the Kent Bismuth 2 3/4" #5s. They performed very well.
