It's a shame that that project never came to fruition. Harry was one of a kind wasn't he?eightbore wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 4:36 pm Daryl, one item from Harry Wright in my collection is a Model 31 Remington F Grade 28 gauge barrel that he probably got from Larry Del Grego Sr. with the idea of making a 28 gauge Model 31. I turned it over to a talented machinist, (not gunsmith) to make a working gun out of it. He almost succeeded, but gave up mid project and gave it back to me.

Actually, my friend got the gun in firing position and fired it. I think his roadblock was feeding or ejecting. I would like to see someone continue this experiment. I still have the barrel.

I remember seeing a pair of Remington Model 31s converted to 28-gauge and .410-bore at one of the big Nevada gun shows. If memory serves me, they were done by Purbaugh.

Simmons made 28-gauge and .410-bore Model 870s and Model 1100s before Remington did. This from the 1966 Simmons catalog --
