Actually, my friend got the gun in firing position and fired it. I think his roadblock was feeding or ejecting. I would like to see someone continue this experiment. I still have the barrel.

I remember seeing a pair of Remington Model 31s converted to 28-gauge and .410-bore at one of the big Nevada gun shows. If memory serves me, they were done by Purbaugh.

I have owned 28 and .410 Remington 870s and 1100s, but have not seen a Model 31. Dave may be right. My 28 gauge barrel may be part of a Purbaugh gun.

Simmons made 28-gauge and .410-bore Model 870s and Model 1100s before Remington did. This from the 1966 Simmons catalog --
