Great thread! Besides the mutual admiration for Fox guns one of the fun things about this board is the opportunity we have to learn about other parts of the country, other hunting that we may not do and other traditions!!

Will, thanks for the additional info. Believe it or not, I hunted geese with Mark Hundley a couple of times in the late 70's or early 80's, can't remember for sure. He was friends with a very good friend of mine. We hunted a set aside rice field about halfway between Hathaway and Pine Island. Hathaway is north of Gueydan. At that time Mark had an 11 month old black lab gyp. Can't remember her name but she worked great for her age and very well trained. If I remember correctly he went to the nationals with her a couple of years later. MKB

This was in the mid-to-late 90's.

Mark is a class act and always had top-notch dogs running in the Grand.

I am down working around Slidell and need to take out that direction on one of the weekends that I am stuck in a hotel and try to look some of that group up.

Thanks for reminding me of good times with good people! They always had a story to tell about the hunt test down here, but I never made it this far South.

One particular one I remember is how the guys were gathered around one evening taking in a little too much Liquid Encouragement when they broke the shock collar out and they all tried to outdo one another by strapping it to their thigh and taking a Jolt.

Well like the old saying goes all was well and good till this one wiry ole boy took him a cut and said in his best broken Arcadian "Hit me wit a 5!!".

They did and his old knee shot straight up and knocked out 3 of his teeth, the old boy never said a word and never left the grounds. He finished out the weekend but stayed away from the truth serum the next night! Lol

Not there to witness but told for the truff!

Good luck with your upcoming season.
