Do you remember who the vendor was that had that C grade with the elaborate checkering in your middle photo?

Re: Need some Butt plates
For a simple plate like the S/W, I would think the Galazan plates might be OK. When it's necessary to capture detail in the casting (other than the horizontal grooves), I have been much more satisfied with the buttplates from N.C. Ordnance http://www.gungrip.com

Re: Floor plate removal?
You do not have to go through the "complete process", but do need to: remove trigger guard first of all. There are three screws that hold the trigger plate on: screw underneath trigger guard tang, trigger plate screw, and breach screw under the toplever. Removing these three will allow you...

Re: NC Ordnance?
I have found the buttplates and grip caps from NC Ordnance to be superior to Galazan's and Vintage Gun Grips. The detail in the casting is much better and they seem to be "polished" to a higher degree on the cast surfaces. As was mentioned, each will need fitting. Just my experience, other...

Re: Pete Mazur restored A Grade
Utah: Pete Mazur is one of the top restoration artists in the world. He has worked on many "best quality" guns and is a member of the Gunmakers Guild. I've seen many of his completed projects, both wood and metal. While he may not have the notoriety of Turnbull's, his work does not take se...

Very nice wood on that one; I especially like that thin leather-covered pad. Good shooting.

Re: Problems Getting Into DoubleGunShop.com Forum
I know it's been a while now, but has anybody had any luck with this? I've tried Firefox as suggested but nothing. The latest posts shown are 11/14. Can't believe the board has been down for over a week.

Re: A Sticky'Thingmebob"at the fromt of the Action,(Reciver)
Bryan: I kind of thought the "jamming" effect of the slot against the barrel lug was intentional, and kept the forend tight against the front of the receiver. I can see it may need to be modified when using a different forend, but maybe only the slot in the new forend iron to allow it to c...

Re: shotgun stock dimension question
HC: That's a good bit of drop for most people nowadays, although not at all unusual for vintage Foxes. i've seen one with 4" at the heel, which was most likely a special order gun, and was basically unshootable with those dimensions. One way to tell is check the factory card, if you're an AHFCA...
