Re: Foxes at Julia's Today

Thanks FoxInTheHenHouse!

I bid on a couple of the Daly Diamond Grades, the Lindner sixteen gauge and the Adamy twelve with the setter on the floor plate. No joy though.

I wish I had bid on the Fox XE12 that went for $4500 hammer price.

Re: Foxes at Julia's Today

There was a Fox XE 12 with #4 barrels. I assume it was relatively light. Did anybody notice what that gun went for?

There also was CSMC Fox XE 20. What did that go for?

Thanks!

Re: On the first day of Christmas.....

On the first day of Christmas... A Fox XE 16 with 26" barrels, weighing a svelte 5-3/4 pounds, with bobwhites engraved on both sides and a birdog in place of the Fox on the floorplate. The factory card says it was ordered by Havilah Babcock to have cylinder and cylinder chokes and "HB"...

Re: XE 20 and birds and dogs

Stan thanks. I dress for the cold and once I get moving I usually get hot and have to remove a layer. 3birdogs your A grade is the perfect bobwhite gun in my estimation. Nice and light. I have an A grade 16 gauge that I like very much. It weighs just under six pounds. And yeah, if I'm not shooting t...

Re: XE 20 and birds and dogs

Thanks for the kind words. Went this afternoon. Very cold. My shooting student Joe Wood didn't want to hunt in the cold. Scenting conditions fair. Carried my old Sterlingworth 12 gauge with the 26" barrels. It weighs 6-11 and has open chokes. I picked it because it has a sling and I wanted to g...

Re: What did you add to your NON-FOX collection in 2016?

I put this gun on my credit card today: http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.php?products_id=42246 I asked the gentlemen to verify that the gun weighed just six pounds. When he weighed it for me today he said he got 5.8 pounds. Then I asked him to verify it was a 12 bore. He got a "12 gauge s...

Re: Where to start?

There is a Sterlingworth 12/32 at Simpson Ltd for $1500.

Search "C22236" without the quotation marks.

I have no connection to Simpson or the gun.

Best,

Mike

Re: XE 20 and birds and dogs

birdawg, if you come across the twin to that gun, only in a sixteen, and you don't buy it please let me know. Jess: I was by myself that day. The thought of providing me a bologna and cheese sandwich so bothered the parsimonious Mr. Wood that he stayed home. He was unable to overcome his tight natur...

Re: XE 20 and birds and dogs

J73 I have hunted blues around Carlsbad several times. I also made two trips to hunt around Los Cruces. Very challenging but lots of fun, especially with dogs in cold weather. I hunted most of this season with a Sterlingworth 20 with 26" barrels, 5-3/4 pounds. Thank you Jim. He is a fine bird d...

XE 20 and birds and dogs

Went hunting this afternoon east of Amarillo. Red and I walked three and a half hours. Red found and pointed eight coveys and many singles. I snapped these two photos right after that walk. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l274/AmarilloMike/2016%202017%20Season/IMG_3809.jpg?t=1480991683 http://i98....
