Re: Fox A Grade Series presented by Savage

They look like nice guns, but a not an A.H. Fox.

So, people should just take it as such......

Re: Seeking Advice on a Fox Gun For Me & My Dogs

My 16ga 3 weight 28" barrelled SW weighs in right at 6 lbs, you won't regret going that route if you walk a lot.... :-) Feed it RST shells, and you will thoroughly enjoy hunting with it. I currently own 4 16ga SxS's, the Fox, an Ithaca NID, a Lefever Nitro, and a FW Elsie. The Fox is by far my ...

Re: Help IDing/more info

Kentucky rifle will be a lot harder to find information on, unless there are some unique identifying marks on barrels, lock, etc..... They were made by just about anyone, anywhere. Heck, even I made one a few years back. :D You could post pics of it on the American LongRifles site, those guys can of...

Re: Help IDing/more info

It's got a 12ga serial number, and looks like a 12ga to me..... DOM of 1931, according to this. https://www.doublegunshop.com/dgsnos1.htm I'd take it to a reputable gunsmith, get it all checked out then take it hunting, or shooting clays. Looks to be in excellent shape, and I do love a 30" 12ga...

Re: Stock repair by Mark Larson

Very nice, it took almost a year for me to get my 16ga Sterlingworth back from the guy that worked on mine.

The work was excellent, but it was a very long wait.... :-)

Re: What to do, what to do..??? Pic heavy.(updt post restore

The most important thing here is that you bought a gun off armslist and you didnt get scammed! Every deal i have ever tried to get into on there ends up being bogus. It truely is a craigslist for guns. When I saw the gun, it was just a bunch of blurry pics, so I called the guy. He is a Ar-15/tactic...

Re: What to do, what to do..??? Pic heavy.(updt post restore

You did the right thing. Who was your refinisher? Guys name is Al Jamison, I got in touch with via a friend who's dad has worked with Browning for many years. He has restored a lot of guns for Browning over the years. He's sometimes hard to get in touch with, and it took a pretty long time to get t...

Re: What to do, what to do..... ??? Pic heavy.

This site was down for a long time, and had forgot all about it. Anyway, ended up having a master wood finisher refinish and repair the existing stock, and replace the butt plate with a replica replacement. Took a while to get it back, as he does a LOT of work for Browning and they always get priori...

Re: Determining condition

I may be doing it all wrong, but one of the last things I look at, when I am trying to decide if I will be interested in buying it, is the amount of case color left. That said, if it has it, it's a big plus as it usually means the gun has been a safe queen. I am more worried about the condition of t...

Re: What to do, what to do..... ??? Pic heavy.

Check to see If the set screw for the sear axle is completely seated . If not , it will keep the trigger plate from setting in flush. Nice find! BTW, this is exactly the issue with the floor plate. I can see where the rear set screw has left a "shine" on the underside of the floorplate. P...

Re: What to do, what to do..... ??? Pic heavy.

I've decided I am going with a repair of the original stock, and leaving this gun as original as I can. I am not bashing Macon Gunstock, as I really have no experience with them, and they were very nice to talk to on the phone. But, in doing some research on them, I found just enough that I was very...
