Re: CSMC vs Custom Fox small bore?
C.O.B., You have indeed been bitten by the Fox bug, just as so many of us on this forum. It is indeed a disease that develops once you have been bitten. The first step in your recovery is admitting that you have a problem. You need to sell your collection (to me). You can't just sneak around behind ...

Re: ATTN: NEW LOOK for the AHFCA!!!
I really like the new logo. How about making gun case labels with this logo? How about we all engrave our guns with it? I'm going to get a tattoo of it. How about making tin tacker signs with the logo. I need a banner, a decal, paint it on my car. The mushrooms add a bit of class. I want an embroide...

12ga Sterlingworth Rebuild
I finally picked up my completed 12 ga Sterlingworth that started out as a rusted, dented-barreled, oil soaked and crack-stocked beater. I don't have any pictures of the gun before the start of the project, but I can tell you that after I had the dents raised, I put in over 25 hours of honing and po...

That gun looks as good as new. Good Job! From the way you talk about the work, can I assume that you did the work yourself? If so, do you do work for others?

cpmaloney, I pulled your post from the History thread and placed it here so you may get a few more responses. These members are a wealth of information and can help you with their opinions and knowledge. I do have a fairly good gunsmith in Ward, Colorado, Steve Bertram. He is very good at restoring ...

Unread postby cpmaloney » Sun Feb 01, 2015 3:00 pm Hi, I am new to the Fox Collectors site and I am writing my first post. My Dad's Fox is a 12 GA side by side with the S/N 78553. I am wondering about the history of the gun. When was it maufactured? It has the Sterlingworth on it also. What kind of a...

Re: CSMC vs Custom Fox small bore?
I really don't have much interest in a CSMC gun. They look nice and have all the bells and whistles, fancy stock, fancy engraving etc., but my preference is to build a custom gun from an old, non-collectible. I take pride in responding to inquiries about my "new" custom gun that it is actu...

JWN,
That stick is like walnut porn. Very desirable. I like to look at it, but I would really like to fondle it, caress it and snug that delightful butt into my shoulder.

Re: 12 ga Fox Extractor Restock
Looks very nice, what rust blue recipe or solution are you going to use?
WPGriffon,
The recipe is a secret, known only to my gunsmith. He says he could tell you, but then he'd have to....you know the rest.
Honestly, I don't know his recipe.

So where are the pictures. You know, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Beside, most of us would rather look at pictures rather than read the text

12 ga Fox Extractor Restock
My 12 ga Fox is nearly done. The wood has been completed along with the checkering, true to style. The only thing left is to rust blue the barrels that required 26 hours of my time to hone and polish. This gun was a real beater with pitting and dents. Thankfully the barrels were #2 weight, so I coul...

Re: Starting a project
ROMAC,
After seeing your picture with Dan, I see why you need 15-1/8"LOP. Dan goes through the same process as my gunsmith, Steve Bertram. Steve is nearly finished with my restocked 12 ga extractor. I'll post pictures of the progress soon.
