Sterlingworth Wildfowl Update

Finally got around to taking pictures and weighing the Wildfowl I got last year. I've been told by members of this board that the card for 134110 is not available, so I haven't ordered it. 32” barrels 0.728/0.729 bores 0.040 left and 0.038 right, 0 weight barrels. 3” Chambers stamped on bottom of ba...

Re: D Special - Paper Weight

The head scratching high grade fox component for me was a round knob X-Grade stock that had dowels fitted at both ends. Obviously for use on a duplicator. Had no damage after the dowels were removed. Even the finish was in good shape. here is a copy of the card. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p1...

Re: D Special - Paper Weight

I have found a set of 32" A-grade ejector barrels...But they are already fitted to the Chrome-Plated XE that I found 3 years ago. The XE is a shooter for now. It will get de-plated, case colored and have barrel wedges engraved at some point. I have a set of 32" Sterlingworth barrels that w...

D Special - Paper Weight

All that I have is the receiver. Engraving looks like standard HE pattern. Hopefully, the left side will clean up. According to the card, there was a special pattern engraved on the barrel. We won't know unless the barrels turn up somewhere. At one time it was a 7lbs. gun with 32" barrels and 3...

Re: Almost Christmas Miracle: Drop in Replacement Barrels

I got the XE earlier this year. Had some other barrels (non ejector) that I was going to fit and convert to ejector. But I couldn't resist getting the 32" ejector barrels, when I saw them. Removing the chrome, re-case coloring and restocking will be happening over the next year or two. Draft an...

Almost Christmas Miracle: Drop in Replacement Barrels

My Christmas, almost miracle. Found some 32" ejector A grade barrels for my XE that had been chromed, chopped and otherwise abused. http://foxcollectors.com/My%20Forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4796 Went to fit them to the XE receiver, thinking of the hours of fun before me. They magically...

Re: The Blingin'est XE 30429

Barrels have definitely been reblued. There is a small amount of wear on the barrel stamps from an overly aggressive polishing. There is one tiny area at the muzzle where the wall thickness is .024 (it goes to .029 about 1/32 into the barrel), the rest of the muzzle is .029+. I will check the barrel...

Re: The Blingin'est XE 30429

Silvers, I agree with what you are saying. Definitely wouldn't be worth it to have others restore it for me. I am curious about the chemical coloring you mention. What does it look like compared to case-coloring? Fortunately, I can do almost everything that this gun needs, myself. Re-casing and remo...

The Blingin'est XE 30429

Sometimes when they say Chrome receiver, they really mean it. This XE has been messed with quite a bit. Frame and fore end metal has been Chrome or nickel plated, with a copper layer underneath. Barrels have been cut down to 25 3/8 inches from 28. Comb was cut off and some wood spliced in between to...
