Re: light weight 16 gauge guns
I have a 1927 A Grade 16 gauge that weighs in at 5 lbs 12 oz. Grandma bought it in the 1930's to shoot crows in the garden.

Re: Food for thought - readers versus posters?
I've learned some interesting things about my Foxes here and appreciate all the people who answer questions and help others learn about their guns. But I mostly read. I only have 2 Foxes, or according to some people one of them is not really a Fox because it's a Model B. And I only poke around the o...

It's the letter "O" not a zero. "O" = 1963

Re: aging the fox model B, heres what mine says..
It's an "O" not a zero. It probably looks like "0" because the stamped letters are scrunched up width-wise.
"O" = 1963
Lots of Fox Model B info here in this recent thread: http://www.foxcollectors.com/My%20Forum ... f=2&t=3801

Re: Spreader loads
Dumped both barrels at a woodcock last Saturday and it got away clean - just too far out I think, maybe 40 yards, which is way too far for spreader loads through IC / Light mod chokes. 40 yards is a long shot and patterns will be pretty sparce even without the spreader insert at that distance. But,...

Re: Spreader loads
I bought a few boxes of the Polywad Spred-R loads this fall - 16 ga 2-1/2", 7-1/2 shot. Dumped both barrels at a woodcock last Saturday and it got away clean - just too far out I think, maybe 40 yards, which is way too far for spreader loads through IC / Light mod chokes. Would have been better...

I tried to check out the pics but it's a private album. Can you just post with the IMG code for the pics?

Re: Hi folks
Thanks! Here's a picture of my setter, taken last Saturday in Maine. I had a great day - the dogs found 15 birds, I had shots at six and missed them all. I was NOT using the Fox because it was pouring rain all day, but instead used my Browning 525 Field 16 gauge. If the measure of success was to sho...

Re: Hi folks
Ok here's some close ups. There are a few spots of rust, the case colors are OK on the sides & top, but not so much on the bottom of the receiver. I don't think Gramdma was much for gun care, and this one spent a lot of time in a corner of a closet. http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa472/NJGS...

Re: Hi folks
Thanks - interesting info. My gun is definitely pre-'68 because it does not have a serial number. Sounds like it was made between 1955-1958. It has 3" chambers, but does not have a ventilated rib.

Hi folks
Hi everyone, I was poking around here a bit and thought I'd sign up. I have an AH Fox A grade in 16 gauge (SN: 3025XX) that I inherited from Grandma - she said she bought it to shoot crows in the garden back in the 30's. I don't know exactly what year it was made (maybe someone can help with that qu...
