I'm curious if the barrel steel on the later Sterlingworth's, specifically the ones marked special alloy with 2 3/4" chambers are better, stronger steel than the early guns.
Is there any info out there on the strength of the different barrels Fox produced?

Sterlingworth loose with forend off
Hi, I have a 16 ga. Sterlingworth that I've been hunting with for the last 15 years. I just noticed that it has some play in the barrels with the forend off, but it is still tight with the forend on.
I was wondering if it is OK to keep shooting it or does it need repaired?
Thanks,
Tim

Broken hammer hook on Sterlingworth 16 ga.
I've got a 16 ga. Sterlingworth that has most of the the hook on the right hammer chipped off. It still functions but the trigger pull is less than a pound. Are there any recommended gunsmiths who could tig weld it and reshape the hook? Or do I need a new hammer? Any help would be appreciated. Thank...

Sorry, I thought I was just discussing a gun that I plan to sell. I didn't realize I was violating a rule.

eightbore, that gun sounds just like what I'm looking for. I will keep looking for one like it, but from what I've seen, it might be tough to find one.
Thanks,
Tim

Lightest weight 12 ga. Sterlingworth?
I would like to find a light weight 12 ga. Sterlingworth with 28" barrels. What would be considered a light Sterlingworth?
Would it be possible to find one in the 6 3/4 lb. range?

Re: Fox Skeet and Upland 12 ga.
Researcher, the serial number is 160093.
I think this gun is a little to nice for what I'm wanting. If I put it on Gunbroker, any idea what a good starting price I should put on it?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Fox Skeet and Upland 12 ga.
Researcher, I know the serial number starts with 160???, I'll try and get the rest of the numbers for you tonight. It has 26" barrels. The dealer said it was choked .007 and .020. The gun weighs 6 lbs. 9 oz. and the stock is 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 14 1/4". Will it hurt the value to ge...

Re: Fox Skeet and Upland 12 ga.
Scott, it is the one Stephen Cobb had. He said it had been restocked because it had a short tang. After doing a little research, it seems like most of the Skeet and Uplands came with a short tang. How do I go about getting a letter on it? George, I think your right, this one seems too nice to put st...

Fox Skeet and Upland 12 ga.
I just got a 12 ga. Sterlingworth I bought online that I planned on using as a beater of sorts. I was thinking I could add a recoil pad and lower the comb a little and use it where steel shot is required. I have a 16 ga. Sterlingworth I use where lead shot is allowed. But after looking around a litt...

Matt, I had a similar problem with one of my Sterlingworths. The problem ended up being the little plunger that holds the lever to right was worn and didn't hold the lever open far enough. It let the hook protrude into the opening for the barrel extension. I put a new plunger in it and it works fine...
