Lightest weight 12 ga. Sterlingworth?

Post by h1tdk00 »

I would like to find a light weight 12 ga. Sterlingworth with 28" barrels. What would be considered a light Sterlingworth?

Would it be possible to find one in the 6 3/4 lb. range?

My lightest 12-gauge is a Fox-Sterlingworth Brush that weighs 6 pounds 14.5 ounces. I've got a 26-inch barrel 12-gauge C-Grade that is 6 pounds 5 ounces.

Have never weighed my SW pin gun 12 ga w/ 28" barrels but it seems to be around the 7 lb mark, maybe a little less. It has the light 4 wt barrels. I will try to weigh it. I have carried it grouse hunting, but generally carry a 16 or 20.

My Sterlingworth pin gun with 28" barrels weighted 6 lb 8 ounces, when I purchased it, but the LOP was 13 3/8". Have since added a period appropriate pad and its 6 lb's 12 oz. That's the lightest I've encountered by a good bit.

My original hard butt Sterlingworth ejector, 28", weighs 6 pounds, 12 ounces. I thought about selling it, but it is an uncommon gun so I changed my mind. I can't remember the barrel weight stamps. I haven't looked under the buttplate, but I'm sure I could get it to 6 1/2 pounds with no trouble.

eightbore, that gun sounds just like what I'm looking for. I will keep looking for one like it, but from what I've seen, it might be tough to find one.

Thanks,
Tim

I've seen 8bores gun. Its got 3 weight barrels. It is a clone of the AbbyGun that I had customized by Dan Rossiter.
