A Good Morning
I had a great time in the duck blind this morning. I was fortunate to get one woodie and two drake mallards. And, as an added bonus, one mallard was wearing jewelry. That’s only my 2nd banded duck. This one was banded last summer in North Dakota.
This C-HE-X is truly a beautiful gun. It has HUGE BARRELS and a stock with streaks of AMBER running through it. When I pull the trigger, it unleashes a veritable STORM of pellets on its unsuspecting victims. I christen thee “TEMPEST”.

Congrats on a fine hunt and the band! Supers are something else. Every time I let one of my friends hold mine, they say something like "holy cow what a massive gun!" I just grin and say that's a man's gun ha

Isn't it nice when it all comes together? Great shooting buddy.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s I worked for Simon Atlas Sons sporting goods at 8th and E streets in downtown Washington DC. The Gayety Burlesque Theatre was right around the corner on 8th street and Tempest Storm was always a premier booking over the major holidays along with other big names like Blaze Starr, Sally Rand and Lilli St. Cyr.
After the J. Edgar Hoover Building was finished for the FBI right across 9th street c. 1965 they did a land-office business! Especially great for us young salesmen were the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, when many of the "exotic dancers" would come in to buy family, friends and sweethearts hunting, fishing, hiking and camping gear. Occasionally they came in still in costume between "presentations" discreetly wearing a light housecoat or a ladies' London Fog. Tons of makeup and huge hair! Kevin

Wow Kevin! You just named some of the best. Hope you got to see a few of them. Good harmless fun (I assume).

Re: A Good Morning
Not a good morning, a GREAT Morning!
The weather here has been so warm and bright that the ducks have not moved for the last two weeks. We shut down hunting at our marsh this week to give the place a rest, first time in my 40 years. Shot 3 ducks in 6 hunts.
This Saturday is the end of the first split, fingers crossed we get some shooting.
I told you it's hard to miss a duck with the C-HE-X LOL!

Re: A Good Morning
It’s very slow here too. The woodies and geese have gotten smart and there are no mallards around. Tuesday I missed a couple of opportunities because I was nodding off in the blind. Wednesday I decided to give the ducks a rest. I got up an hour earlier, drove 85 miles north of town and shot a deer with my crossbow. Now, I’m back in the duck blind staring at the blue sky.fox-admin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2026 6:53 am Not a good morning, a GREAT Morning!

I have had the labs out pheasant hunting 3 times this week. It's so warm in the middle of the day I have to stop at 11am.Jeff S wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2026 11:01 amIt’s very slow here too.
