First Duck Hunt Of 2026

I'm unfortunately stuck at work for the first two weeks of the season but my hunting partner was able to get out a few days after the opener on a failed severely flooded pea field we'd scouted pre-season. He said he was feeling a little FOXY when he got up that morning so out came the Sterlingworth pin gun.

Here is a couple more for you. Also we received word today from the gunsmith that my Super Fox and my buddies DHE Parker were ready to ship back. We have a three day waterfowling weekend planned with a couple friends who will be sporting their Model 21's. Hoping we have our guns in time for our all classic doubles weekend but for now the autoloaders will have to suffice. A couple more pics from my buddies opening holiday weekend.

Good grief! You guys have amazing hunting spots and generous bag limits.

I could not begin to guess how much private land we have access to? 100,000 acres? 200,000? We rarely travel more than 20 minutes from the house but we have access much further out. We try to stick to lands we know the outfitters cannot access. As for bag limits, yes we have good limits. 8 dark geese per day(24 posession), 8 ducks(16 possession) and 50 white geese per day(no possession) and the gov't recently changed the posession laws on the darks and ducks that once you have the birds home and they are processed they no longer count towards your possession as they are then considered food. Possession with wings on is only for travel purposes and once home, wings removed is considered processed for food.Makes for some great options for making various things as you can really stockpile if so inclined.
My wife and I grind our Canadas to make jerky and burger. Snows we grind into sausage and lunch meats. Specks we leave as is for making stir fry, stew meats, bbq'n, mixed game meat pies etc. and since neither of us are overly fussy about ducks we dehydrate the breasts, chop them into pieces, bag them and give them to the landowners whose lands we hunt for puppy treats.
1 more shift to go and I suspect this will be it at shutdown for my position(fingers crossed) so I'll take the remainder of the season off and hunt almost every day if possible before freeze up or until moose opens. If we still aren't frozen out by moose season we'll try to get our bull tag filled FAST and get back at the late season greenheads.
