Cody Letter 5E Knick SBT

Post by Canuck »

I always find it fascinating to get a Cody letter to see what kind of info is in them. I received three this week for a few of my Ithacas. The letter for the 5E Knick was quite interesting to say the least and has left me with a curiosity to try to find out who M. Davis was? He appears to be the recipient of the gun in 1931 and from there how did it end up in Winnipeg, MB where I purchased it from a fellow who claimed to be moving guns from a friends estate and that this had been in the person's possession for many, many years. Maybe M. Davis was from MB?

Boa and Beeson were both Ithaca distributors, Boa usually listed with a Canadian address. The Indiana address was probably a dealer where he picked up guns before the Grand. Their names appear on many Ithaca orders. Many Ithaca singles were delivered or sold at the Grand American.

Morgan Davis lived at 415 York Street in Springfield, Ohio, at least he did from 1928 to 1936, the only years I checked on him. He was a fairly high volume shooter of ATA birds.

I tried to find him on the ATA website but they don't seem to have a historical section. Thank you gentleman for the awesome info!! Wow!

Nice display of Ithaca shooters and your letter. Seems as though Mr. Crosby also shot a Parker as I have a 20ga. ordered by him.

Annie also shot a Parker and Sparrow Young shot a Young repeater. Sooner or later, everyone shoots an Ithaca. Thanks for the great letter. And thanks to Dick Baldwin for providing me with ATA average books back to 1913.
