The Southern 2026
Looks like it’s going to be a great weekend for the Southern. If you make it to North Carolina, please stop by the Fox Booth and say “Hi”. Rich, Mike and I shot a round at Drakes Landing to warm up.
Shoot vintage firearms, relax, and have fun.

Re: The Southern 2026
It’s always fun to sit in the Fox Booth and see what walks in. Quite often there’ll be a little something that I’ve never seen before. For instance: today a gentleman showed me his beautiful 20 ga. BE with factory swivels.
I also enjoyed seeing a rather interesting CE. The card stated “C” engraving on an XE frame. So, this C had rebates and the small lock screw. I hadn’t noticed those features on a C before.
I was really surprised when a guy walked in with a Fox and asked about the grade. He didn’t know what it was, but he had paid $200 dollars for it at an estate sale. Well, it was a rock solid SPE. Unfortunately someone had shortened the stock, and then added the wood back, but other than that, it was nice.
I wonder what we’ll see tomorrow?

The AHFCA owes a big “Thank you” to Kevin and Tom. They are the heart and soul of the Fox Booth and spend countless hours chatting with fellow SxS enthusiasts. Every event they are there, fielding questions and promoting our beloved Fox shot guns. Thanks guys.

Thank you to Tom and Kevin for their great work and devotion to the cause. And thank you Jeff for your post from the Southern. It is amazing how quite the Parker and Fox sites get this week, as most of the folks are down there enjoying the weather and comradery of the event. Your daily post help guys like me who can't get down there make it through. I just hope I can make it down there next year to see what it is all about.

Jeff, some good reports and of course I wish I were there. Thank you. I always liked staffing and hanging out at the Fox booth while at the Southern in particular ..... the Fox gun rich environment, socializing, camaraderie, opportunity to move some guns, and often first dibs at good Foxes that walk in for sale. Great "compensation" for the time spent there. frank

Can't tell from the photo but how is Tom's leg doing? It looks like he still has both of them. And yes, Tom and Kevin do a great job of spreading the gospel.

KUDOS to Steggy, K-Mac and Tutt.....PEERLESS ambassadors to our cause!!
The AHFCA owes each of them an incalculable debt of gratitude. And though they will tell you it's a "labor of love," lest we forget, there's a reason why LABOR comes before LOVE. While 99.8% of attendees at these events are out shooting, hunting for new acquisitions or socializing, these guys are bustin' ass, long before the opening bell and several hours after the final curtain falls. Many thanks, gents.......

On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....

Re: The Southern 2026
Leg is slowly healing. Animal control served a summons to my wife on Friday requesting my attendance in Court on May 20th. The dogs owner was also served. This is a case to determine whether the dog is placed in Virginia's Dangerous Dog Registry. If he is placed in the registry he must be muzzled in public. Their fence will have to meet animal control standards, and if he bites anyone else, the state will take possession of the animal.
This has nothing to do with a civil case. That would happen after all the healing takes place and all the medical bills are received. Been a rough road.
Southern was great. IMO prices on any small bore Fox is through the roof.

Re: The Southern 2026
Special thanks to Jeff for doing the "hump" work of booth setup and maintenance, and to all who lauded our efforts. Tom keeps me "on point" to focus and add commentary on the great guns brought in by "walk ins" even though it cuts into my cigar breaks occasionally. Great to see all the regulars and especially those who we know only from their "handles" on the AHFCA website. Sitting the booth is more than worth it for the stories alone; guns, dogs and men with Foxes! My choice for "booth gun of the show" was the stunning CE 16 grade offered for sale: condition, dimensions, and engraving were outstanding. Once again we had Lulu as "booth dog" on Saturday representing the canine component of "The Finest Gun in The World". (Thanks, Alan!). If you've never been, you have to come! "They are out there!" Kevin

Re: The Southern 2026
Thanks for the kind words. The booth is definitely a team effort and Kevin and Tom make it happen.
Yesterday I saw something that was new to me. One of the visitors, Roy, brought in his 16 ga. Sterlingworth that had more than the usual amount of engraving. Kevin and Tom indicated that this wasn’t the first case. If anyone has any thoughts, opinions or explanations, please let me know and I’ll relay them to Roy. Thanks.
