Trio of Foxes
Trio of Foxes
My grandfather loved Fox shotguns, which carried to my dad, and on to me. We have 3 generations in the safe and a couple years ago I decided to take on a project. I found worthy candidates in 12, 16, and 20g. All Philly guns within a couple years of each other. All 28” barrels in mod/full. I took them to Turnbull for a complete restoration. I did opt to add a small gamebird engraving and inlay to the bottom of each receiver. Here are some pictures.

Great looking guns! Thanks for posting.
I find it interesting that the case colors on the trigger plate of the middle gun is much more mottled than the other two. It just shows that there is some randomness of outcomes in the case hardening process.

Beautiful family heirlooms. Thanks for sharing your collection with us. Will you be hunting with them in the Fall?
Shoot vintage firearms, relax, and have fun.
Re: Trio of Foxes
I kind of wish they were all more dramatic like that, but then that would also make it less unique….tradeoffs.
Re: Trio of Foxes
I haven’t decided what to do with these yet. I would say they are only new once, but kind of not the case as these are new again. I have plenty of other guns to hunt with. Decisions, decisions. These particular guns were not passed to me, I purchased them solely for this project, they could certainly become heirlooms. Grandad and dad’s guns will remain as they were left-I’d never dream of changing them.

Very nice trio of guns. Simply elegant and unpretentious!! I like the variation in the case coloring from gun to gun!
