Abby Gun on the board
As a fair number of folks know, the Abby Gun was my first foray into the Fox field. It was 100 percent done to pay homage to the best dog I'll ever have in my lifetime. Abby passed away two years ago at the age of 14. She was a better dog then I was a trainer for sure. Sweet, lovable and amazingly smart. Started out as a 12 gauge Sterlingworth and I take it hunting a few times for turkey's every year. RST is the ammo of choice. Today I had a decoy out at 20 yards and was nestled in a ground blind. Birds gobbled a bit off the roost, but then only the occasional gobble. My decoy was in the edge of a winter wheat field and view-able for a long distance. I kept calling every 15 minutes or so and would occasionally hear a gobble in the distance. That said, I was shocked when I glanced up and the gobbler was about 15 yards away making a beeline for the decoy. Had time as he went behind a small cedar to raise the Abby Gun and put a round downrange out of the Improved Cylinder barrel as he cleared the other side of the cedar. Down went the bird. 21 lbs of Virginia Long Beard, with nice spurs and a good beard. Once again, I gave the gun a little rub on the bottom of the frame where Abby's likeness is engraved. Another job well done.

I love the figure and grain flow in your stock. Reminds me of older stuff. I had a pre war JP a few months back with a very similar piece.

I think all of us who have been owned by a once-in-a-lifetime dog know how special your hunt was. I have my Prairie Trace engraved on the underside of my CSMC XE. Congratulations on honoring your hunting buddy this way.
BTW, where in VA are you? I grew up in Williamsburg and turkey hunted in Charles City Co. and Highland Co. Many years ago.

I live in Northern Va. The hunt took place about 45 miles south of Winchester.
