Michigan woodcock cold and rainy
Hunted 22-23 near St Helen's, MI and first day did not have much action but second day it rained lightly at about 60 degrees and then more heavily whole morning. Very high humidity and some mist. So I switched to my more waterproof Franchi semi-auto and put my Fox away. We had in 3 hours 16 woodcock flushes and two grouse flushes. One interesting feature was woodcock visible on ground at point a couple of times. My wife had two good Parker shots and I had one. So here we are wet and bedraggled but supper in hand. My cocker not only found and retrieved my woodcock but after giving it to me, took it away again to carry around for a while. I am looking like a man disappointed in his "waterproof" jacket and pants!

Thanks for the report JF. I don't think there is any clothing that can keep you dry in that kind of weather. Is that Filson or Barber you are wearing?
Owning a Fox is not a spectator sport.

It is a Seeland (Danish) coat. But the humidity was so high that probably half the water came from me. Woodcock seem to like that weather though.

Thanks for posting and telling us about your day. Just curious, why put your Fox away and switch to the Franchi while your wife hunted with her Parker?

We did not have any other gun with a stock short enough for her with us. She has another short-stocked Franchi 12 but it has a reflex sight and a rifled slug barrel on it all sighted in right now.

Looks like she's doing a fine job with the Parker.

Woodcocker, while hunting in that weather can make you feel like a wet mop it looks like the two of you managed just fine! Thanks for sharing. I was down state at the cottage last weekend and it was sunny and 47 degrees most of the day. Unfortunately I was winterizing/cleaning leaves so no hunting last weekend. Brett
