VGC Attendees: Dust-Off those Fox Small Bores!!

Post by TOOL MAN »

The AHFCA BOD's have announced they'll be funding a $200 purse for the "Field Gun 5-Stand Match" at the upcoming Vintage Gunner's Cup at Hausmann's Sept.19-21st. Thanks to our own "Silvers" (Frank Srebro) for suggesting we get behind this event as a way to entice more AHFCA members to burn some powder. We will pay cash prizes of $75-$50-$30-$25 and $20 respectively, to the top-five finishers who shoot an A.H Fox (Philly, Utica or CSMC) small bore or lightweight 12b in this contest. I'll let Frank and Daryl fan the flames from here. Time to haul those lively Fox small bores out of the woodwork!! Good shooting.

Tool, what is the weight limit? I need to know how much I need to shorten the barrels on my HE to get under the limit.

Thank you Steve and the BOD's. I hope our members will get as excited about this event as I am. Only 20 targets on the 5-stand, close to the tents and easily done between your other shooting commitments, table time, etc. Daryl and I will be pulling together some simple guidelines over the next few days once we talk with the Vintage Gunner admins.

That's the spirit buddy. That $75 will buy us a couple of breakfasts at the "Diner". :D
OK- who else is stepping up to the plate with their smallbore?

I've got my 20ga. in the truck, and I'll take a few practice shots with it tonight.

6 lb. 13 oz. Maximum, Jim. I'm afraid you'd turn that "HE" into a blunderbuss in order to compete....LOL!!!

Daryl and I are in touch with the VGC admin and have gotten approval but some logistics need to be worked out. Details will be posted in a day or so.

It will be good to spend time with you again Jeff. Nice, a 20b Sterly Ejector gun. Woohoo.

Regarding lightweight 12 bores ….here's a (second gen range) Special BE 28 inch pure upland gun I hunted with at one time that came in at 6^7.4. Ordered with minimal engraving and a blued frame, card also shows "pattern gun and send patterns". :)

I know I had all you guys worried that I would come in with my "lightweight" HE and steal the money. Not to worry. I would have to sell the gun to get gas money to drive out to PA. lol
Jim
PS - nice guns Jeff and Craig.

Daryl: Only bringing 20's to HH. Three Parkers and my Fox. I can't believe this old duck hunter has nothing but 20's on the travel team.

As promised the details and rules for this event are now posted in the AHFCA Events Forum.

We are calling this the "Fox Upland Gun Championship". Let's get those wonderful production and custom Fox lightweights out to do a warm up for the bird seasons.
