Lefever scores on PA grouse!
Took a sexy brown phase ruff this afternoon with the Lefever F grade 12g. Jumped him out of the grape thicket on our property. We have ongoing habitat projects here and they are working!!

Nice going, Mike. I thouht there were only 2 color "phases", red and gray? I would have called your grouse a red "phase".

Took the words right out of my uppers, Jim - in our NY coverts we would call this a "red" bird. KevinJim Cloninger wrote:Nice going, Mike. I thouht there were only 2 color "phases", red and gray? I would have called your grouse a red "phase".

According to an article that appeared on the Ruffed Grouse Society's blog there are actually 5 color phases of Ruffed Grouse -- red, gray, intermediate, brown and split.
