I posted this on the Remington Society site, but thought I'd do it here as well for some different eyeballs.
I was recently examining my CEO-Grade 135944 and comparing it to some pictures I have of 135970. On my gun the C on the barrels is stamped on the bottom of the web of the barrel lug and on 135970 it is on the barrel flat near the serial number (commonly seen). Also there is an R under the serial number on the barrel flat of my gun. My barrels are engraved on top just like other higher grades of that era.
Does any of this mean anything or am I making "much ado about nothing!"

Re: CEO-Grade Remingtons
Well Dave I looked at 135970 to see if there were any other stampings that would match up for you but without any luck. There appears to be a vertical "N" "O" on them but it is faint.
There is another that is on GB (772710140) that is close in Serial Number but has the stamping on the table like mine and different stampings from either of ours.
Terry Deem feels he has a handle on the barrel markings, but I do not.
Wish I did.
Will
