I recently acquired a Sterlingworth 12ga model 1911 SN 57048.
The shoulder stock is not original and the safety slider has been replaced along the way.
I learned alot from reading these forums, and now I'm posting back to thank all of you and to include some pictures:
I'm thinking it wouldn't be difficult to get the proper Sterlingworth safety to replace the aftermarket one currently on the gun. Also if you are a bit handy and take your time you can buy a semi-fit buttstock and replace what's on there. For me, that stock has way too much drop to be usable. One can often find parts on ebay for the 12 gauge Sterly. PS. Instructions on how to take the gun apart on shown on the home page. Looks like barrels are in good shape and that's the most important part for sure.
@vaturkey
In fact the right barrel is rather pitted.
I bought it as a cheap shotgun with the intention of sawing it off, barrel and stock. Now I have a bit more respect for that old a piece.
I'm not a fan of hunting, so I guess I'll refurbish the woodwork and leave the thing hanging on the wall.
Someone more knowledgeable than me might fancy restoring it to original.
@eightbore
In fact I live in Lebanon - Middle-East.
I have no idea how this gun ended up here, probably part of a batch of used imports.
No clue on the history of it either, but around here Fox shotguns are pretty much unknown.
The laws here are pretty lax for hunting guns.
Everything goes as long as the gun uses shot shells.
Anything "military" (handguns, rifles, machine guns etc..) is strictly controlled.
I will keep it as is though. @vaturkey said it best: that piece must have some stories to tell.
