Southern Manitoba report
Just finished deboning the last cooler full and I can say the numbers are up. I've seen more ducks and geese in the last 7 days hunting than any of the other 10 seasons in southern Manitoba. Mallard,Gadwall,Widgeon,Blue & Greenwing Teal by the droves! Crazy weather too, first nights hunt ended running from mosquitos and till we got to Thursday it was snowing sideways mixed with raining Mallards. Before the snow the area we hunt saw 3 to 6 inches of rain depending where you were. Another awesome annual trip to the great north!

Re: Southern Manitoba report
No pics this trip,I don't no how to post them anyway. I hunt with 2 other guys, some are on yearly rotations and every so often we take a newbe. Have not acquired everything I want to hunt my fox up there, but next year we have a newbe and I plan to take a fox. So I may have to figure the picture posting thing out. Thanks for the reply, and run some down to us in states, also I personally can not put to words the kindness and generosity we have received while hunting in Canada- GREAT PEOPLE!!!!!!

When I was younger, I hunted waterfowl in Manitoba a few times. I hunted further north around The Pas. Great hunting. My first shot on the first hunt I killed 3 Widgeon out of a pack of 4 birds! I thought was a good omen and we had terrific hunting from then on.
Goodbye Mandy, once in a life time hunting dog. I miss you every day.

Three ducks with one shot! I would think that was a good omen, too, Jim.

I was surprised the first year I went, it was quite an undertaking and very humbling. I was expecting prairie like South Dakota. We are usually within 150 miles of the border and take away the fields it would all be forests. I love hunting wooded potholes, you get that " real deal in the middle of nowhere " feeling! How was the terrain up at the Pas? That had to be close to turning to tundra.

Where we hunted around the Pas it was pretty open country. Lots of marshes and only small patches of trees. In those days, to get there, the last 150 miles was dirt road!
