Anyone for a Fox group at Blue Ridge this Saturday?

Post by Silvers »

It's short notice but I've had a change of plans for this weekend. I'd like to invite any and all Fox Gun guys and gals to meet up at the Central PA SxS shoot this Saturday, April 5, at Blue Ridge (BR is just off I-81 near Harrisburg, PA).

I've shot several sporting clays tournaments at Blue Ridge and it's an excellent venue. From what I understand the club will be offering 5-stand, wobble trap and a sporting clays course on Saturday. Also that breakfast and lunch will be available at the club. I don't know what the target prices are but I'm sure they'll be nominal.

Shall we say 9 - 9:30am at the clubhouse? It would be nice to see a contingent of Foxers there for some good fellowship and fun shooting. If you haven't shot clays with a SxS before I'm sure we can all hook up.

Please reply if you can come out to clean the dust out of that Fox. Silvers

Okay Dick, I'm looking forward to meeting you. Hopefully some lurkers will firm up their plans and get out with their Fox(es). These SxS shoots can be a real blast. Everyone is just shooting for fun and the folks that choose to shoot old double guns are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. Frank

Well those of you close by missed a good shoot today. Weather was just fine, ~ 50 degrees, no rain, a decent turnout - maybe 25 shooters. I saw some nice guns there including a really nice custom smallbore Fox with straight grip owned by Dick Baum. Dick and I shot a round of sporting along with the Pastor Charlie and Kevin Brooks with their Elsies, Dave Koehler with a Parker and another gent with a Parker whose name escapes me right now (mind is the second thing to go and I don't remember what the first one is). It turns out Dave lives about 10 miles from me and we could have driven down to Blue Ridge together if we knew of each other. Some other double gun personalities included Jent Mitchell, J.D. Shank, Dewey Vicknair and Craig Libhart among others. It was a pleasure to meet some new friends and renew acquantances with those I know. Oh, did I mention the sporting targets were very good, no cupcakes and no eye tests, and only $11.00 per 50? Food was available on site, low priced and good. Blue Ridge did a very nice job hosting the shoot.

Now that we're organized and can pass the word here, I sure hope we start seeing more Fox guns out at the SxS shoots. There's nothing like letting a fox loose! Silvers

Frank,

Glad you made it to Blue Ridge this past Saturday. Although I'm strictly a Parker guy, I enjoy seeing all different makes. I'm going to see if I can find a date in August to do it again, if not, for sure next spring. I relied on Jents e-mail list to spred the word and that worked well. I'll be sure to include the Fox and Elsie forums next time with announcements. BTW, check out the Parker forum for some pictures.
