Stock dent finish filler
I have a stock with a new finish on it. It now has a small but deep dent, with steep sides. I do not want to refinish the stock again. I could get away with another touch-up coat of Tru-oil. What can I use to fill the dent, that will remain clear and accept touch-up finish over the top of it?

A shellac stick is what you want, then I'd finish it with Timberluxe. Shellac sticks are available at a plethora of places, Brownell's is one such place: http://shop.brownells.com/gunsmith-tool ... ArQh8P8HAQ

Excellent. I can do that. There's a Klingspor's nearby with a large variety of sticks. Thanks.

I ended up trying a similar method of using a series of quick drying lacquer droplets to fill in. Worked out well. Would like to learn the shellac stick method as well for the next time.
