C Grade Sterlingworth Custom
Just to refresh everyone's memory, this started life as a Utica made, 26" Cyl & IC Sterlingworth "Brush" straight grip (according to Callahan letter) It was returned to factory and a year later sold as a second (according to Callahan letter) but now has C Grade engraving (its factory, laid against 3 other C grades and there is no difference) most likely done by a buddy of the guy who bought it at work.
As it stood, the gun was not shootable with drop of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2. Dan Rossiter did the wood work and converted the short "brush" style guard to graded style.
Wood came from a AHFGCA member (thanks VA T!) . this is not an attempt to create a C Grade. Its a way to rejuvenate a great little gun with some cool character.
The case is from FEI Cases.
And the final result of this endeavor; my new Springer Mollie (9months) and our first bird killed together, and my first bird killed with the new Fox.

Re: C Grade Sterlingworth Custom
Turned out rather amazing. Dan Rossiter test fired it in my presence last year at the NE SXS in Pa while I was shooting my custom 20 gauge Fox. I fell in love with it then. Just to show that sometimes a great blank turns into a great looking stock, here's a picture of the blank along with another blank that I kept for a straight stock gun down the road that's pretty sweet also. Actually going to talk to Dan about that blank this coming weekend.

Brian,
Beautiful Fox. That is the best looking beaver-tail forearm I have ever seen. Most are clunky and screw up the lines, but the way yours slims down is just elegant.

Re: C Grade Sterlingworth Custom
I shot bunker trap hard for 10 years with a straight out-of-the-box Browning Superposed Pigeon Grade Lightning Trap that came out of the factory stocked 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 with long-tang flat knob stock, Browning pad and the so-nice narrow tapered rib. Took some getting used to but shot straight as an arrow; no "hold above" or "hold below" or any of that 70/30 nonsense. At 65 meters it would turn a clay pigeon into confetti! No good of course for the grouse woods with those dimensions or those killer chokes but what a gun for the bunker!
