How do you determine if a Fox gun has been restocked? Someone told me
that the graded guns have the grade stamp under the trigger guard on the stock. Is that true? Thanks, Bagfinger

Bagfinger, I've had a few original graded guns apart and never saw a grade stamp anywhere on the stock. Not to say it wasn't done, just that I've never seen it myself. The serial number is sometimes stamped in the head of the stock, but I've seen others that weren't stamped.
Generally you can tell if the gun's been restocked by looking at the stock and carefully comparing with pics of original guns as shown here on the Fox site or in the DGJ, etc. Very few restocks are really true to form; you can usually spot something that isn't "right". Restocked guns will often have bedding epoxy inside the head of the stock or in the trigger guard inlet. Of course you will never find that on an original. I hope this helps. Silvers
