Eisenlohr Fox barrel pics?

Post by Silvers »

I see the Eisenlohr Fox s/n 35 is listed on the Julia auction site. Does anyone have any good pics of its barrel markings? If so I'd appreciate it if you would post it here or send to me at:

wildhunt(at)epix.net

I know the gun is pic'd in McIntosh's book about 4 times but none show the barrel markings. Thank you. Silvers

Dave, thanks for your reply. I don't have that issue and was hoping to look at a pic or two before I get a copy of the back issue from the DGJ. Frank

Bill, short answer is no. I don't know if it sold and if so what it went for. My interest is mainly to see how genuine guns were special marked on the barrels. That's all I'm gonna say here right now. I assume you're going to Baltimore? Good luck there. I'll be at Harrisburg. Frank

The 28-inch set is marked with the normal Krupp roll stamp on top of the tubes and marked 35 B C on the left barrel flat. The 30-inch set has the engraved "Krupp Fluid Steel made to order -- by A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. Pa. U.S.A." type marking on top of the tubes, and D and 35 over 2 on the left barrel flat.

Dave, thanks for the second reply. I appreciate it. That info is what I was looking for and will hold me over until I get the back issue of the DGJ you referenced. Frank

It is thought by most researchers that the 28" set is the original set of barrels and the 30" set was made later.
