Vintage Shotgun Brush "What Manufacturer Made These"

Gentlemen,

I have just a few of these brushes from grand dad, they are nice to push a patch through the barrel quickly. Any idea what manufacturer made these? Are they still available, UK maybe?

I don't know who made them, but I got one with the gun cleaning rods when I emptied out my Father's house that he lived in from 1939 to 1998.

Just some wear 'n tear should make a new one look like that. I've got one, just haven't tried it out yet.

I had a brush like that with a 3 piece hickory and brass cleaning rod that my uncle had. I would guess it was from the 40's or '50s, but there was no name on it or the rod.

Very commonly a British accessory. Usually any made in the US will have markings (e.g., BGIC0 - Bridgeport Gun Implement Company). Easiest way to tell is the thread - coarser is US, finer British. In the hundreds of gun cases I have restored over the years I have probably come across two or so dozen of these.

Aren't these called tornado brushes?

I can't find any markings on these two or the thing on the lower left. The one on the lower right is the Tomlinson and in addition is marked U H Co., 12 ga, and Made in U.S.A.



The box they were all in also contained en extra set of bronze pads for the Tomlinson.

The one on the lower left looks like a detachable chamber brush made to fit a takedown cleaning rod handle or its own dedicated handle for use with multiple gauges. Usually the brass collar on the handle right below the thread is marked with the maker's name but usually the brush head is only stamped with the gauge(s).

Researcher, the Tornado brush is not what this brush is. The Tornado is a spiral brush that is probably the greatest brush that has ever been devised, but not part of many British gun cases.
