Hello:
I am trying to help my dad find out more about his father's shotgun. It has been in my dad's closet for at least the last 50 years, and I am fairly certain that it was fired sparingly before that, when the family had a farm in Lancaster County, near Philadelphia. The serial number is 32684, and I believe this may place it from 1928. 12 gauge. My neighbor described the stock as "half stock."
This neighbor runs an armory that serves the film industry and when I asked him to have a look, he described it as in beautiful condition, looking almost new. He said that finer pieces were not his field (he said they would NOT use something like this in the film industry), so he referred me to the Fox Collectors web site.
Is there a way of finding out how many of these models were made in 1928? My dad seems to think that it may be one of a short run, and of course he is interested in it's value (he was made a generous offer for it years ago, but did not accept).
I am afraid that my digital camera is not working at the moment, but I hope to be able to post pictures in the near future.
If you can help enlighten us with some direction, I thank you in advance for your guidance and knowledge.
Alex

The serial number indicates it is a graded Fox gun. First go to the Foxcollectors.com home page and try to determine what grade the gun is. Pictures of the actual gun posted to this site is the best way to get feedback. If you are still in the PA area we may have members that would take a look at the gun and give you a more detailed evaluation. Send me an e-mail or PM if you like.
