Of my three Philadelphia Fox 16s 1 A grade and 2 Sterlingworths none have visible barrel weight numbers however all 3 weigh within the 4 weight range.

Re: #4 weight barrels on 16 gauge Sterlingworths
I personally haven't seen 4-weight barrels on a 16 gauge Sterly, but never say never. All the 16 Sterlies I've owned had 2 and 3-weight barrels and I've seen two with 1-weight/30-inch tubes.
If anyone is trying to correlate with the weight (mass) charts shown in MM's Fox book, N.B. the charts are for unstruck barrel sets. Barrels that are on guns will typically average about 2.5 - 4 ounces less than the weight shown in the book, depending on gauge. Of course a good digital scale is a must when the barrel(s) doesn't have a weight stamp and you're trying to figure out what you have.

I have one still and sold another that were both 4 wt 16 ga A grades. Both with visible stamps. I have never seen a sterlingworth with visible 4's

Re: #4 weight barrels on 16 gauge Sterlingworths
Just received my factory letter, Sterlingworth S/N 3547xx, 16ga with 26" barrel, nothing stamped underneath. I did weigh the barrel and they come in at 2 lbs 12.6 oz. Can someone tell me if the weight would be a #4 barrel?
