Ferlach barrels on AE Fox
Ferlach barrels on AE Fox
Several years ago my wife bought me a AE Fox. She had heard me say that I always wanted a classic shotgun so she bought it as a Christmas present. But the 28'' barrels are not Fox. They have Furlach smokeless proof marks and Bohler-Blitz-Stahl on both barrels. The number 3651.60 is near the Furlatch proof marks. Furlach proof marks and 3651.60 also appear on the water table. The guns serial number which is 21506 appear on the barrels and water table. The barrels have Briley screw in chokes and I know that there is little collectors value but I shoot it pretty good and love to hunt with it. I would love to know more about how a Fox AE got Furlatch Austrian barrels.

Back in the 60s and 70s Atlas and Hardin and Knight were two firms that offered rebarreling of doubleguns. Bobby

Thanks Bobby. I think that the original barrels were damanged and they were replaced with the Ferlach barrels. Recently, a gunsmith told me that some returning world war two vets sent their American made guns back to Europe to have the barrels upgraded by Ferlach. They felt that German steel was better that American and and could get it done at a very low cost.
