Found one more that was overlooked. Upon first glance I thought oh another Super Fox. I also was thinking that maybe I was seeing some Becker influences. Once I got home and took a closer look I was stumped. I am looking for any insight to how this gun came to be. Is it possible to do a card look up on this gun? I cant find an example anywhere to compare it to. The Fox Collectors site does not have an example of the roll marks on the barrel. Has anyone seen this before? The gun in the pictures looks a little ruff but has been sitting in a closet for 40 years. Once I give her a light shine she should be a nice addition to the collection....But where does it fit in?

#1 barrels, probably not a Super Fox. Wonderful Becker gun though.

Jonathan the barrel markings are typical of a Savage era graded gun chromox being the propriatary name for the steel used in the graded gun barrels however there is some discussion if the steel used for graded gun barrels is really any differnt from the steel used in non graded guns.

Jonathan, when we were on the phone a while back, I didn't ask you if the forend was serial numbered. The engraving inside and on the latch of the forend are quite elegant compared to the rest of the gun. Not unheard of on a Becker gun, but "Is it numbered to the gun?"

No the forend is not numbered. It is very nice compared to rest of the gun.

I have 1933 and 1936 vintage 16-gauge A-Grades that have CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL on the right barrel and SAVAGE ARMS CORP., UTICA, N.Y.U.S.A. on the left barrel but no MADE BY. Normally, both A.H. Fox Gun Co. and Savage Arms Corp. tended to use equal length roll stamps on each barrel of a given gun. None of my 11 Savage era doubles have MADE BY on the left barrel. The engraved legend on my Savage era J-Grade SBT does include the MADE BY. Four of my five doubles that letter from 1937 to 1939 have CORPORATION spelled out, while my other seven Savage doubles have CORP.
