XE day
Today was one of those days. I got a call from a buddy before Xmass asking me if I was available the 26th to go hunting. He said that his brother had an in with a caretaker on an estate that would give us access to 3,500 acres a few days after a holiday pheasant release. (no exaggeration, this is serious Philadelphia/Delaware area horse country)To get to the meat of the matter we were told that they had a tower shoot and released 500 hens for their guests before Xmass and the best guess was that they shot about 200 of them. We had a window of about 2 hours to go have some fun. I went 4 for 4 with a double. Rst spreaders in the right barrel with a vintage Peter's 7 1/2 high brass in the left. We saw hens running all over the place where we could not shoot. We were given access to the gnarliest multi flora rose thickets in a creek bottom. There were also 10 cockbirds released which were supposed to garner a special prize for the owners friends and we saw one dead that probably was killed by a fox. Anyway it was a great day!
