50 years ago, today

Post by Silvers »

Grouse are scarce this year but I managed to find two in about 3 hours this afternoon. First one caught me flatfooted without a shot but the second bird wasn't as lucky. That's a 1923 12 gauge Sterlingworth Brush Ejector, 26-incher. Our turkey season is now open and I had two Remington papers in the gun, low brass 8 and a high brass 4. Both are folded crimp shells ..... the picture could have been taken 50 years ago at the tail end of paper shells and when I was a young pup.

Nicely done, I love to hunt with vintge shells too. They add an extra touch of nostalgia to anyhunt.

Frank, beautiful bird and Fox. It looks like I will not be able to hunt Ruffed Grouse this year as I am having difficulty getting around ever since my operation. Maybe next year. Jim
