Fox ejector follower rod question

Post by ROMAC »

I rescued a 12 gauge Fox AE recently for a great price that came with all its internals in a plastic bag. The owner stated that he bought it as a project and when he took it apart he found what he called the split end of the follower rod snapped off. He ordered the part from somewhere and when he got it it was too long (See picture). He than bagged it up and put it away and never went back to it. I'm trying to determine if 1) that is in fact the name of the broken part (see picture) and 2) can the longer one be modified or do I need to find the right size and 3) is it conceivable that a micro welder could fix the broken part?

Any advice would be appreciated from someone who can tell me what I'm dealing with.

Does anyone at least know why there would be two different length parts out there?
