Stock crack repair

Post by Ithaca33 »

For those who have experience salvaging cracked stocks is there a way to repair this so that it's stable? I don't care if the crack is visible just that it's stable. My uncle shot this 37 for 50 years before turning it over to me and I'd like to do the same :-)

I would think Gorilla Glue and surgical tubing would take care of the issue. Might not be the most lovely, but you could probably keep on shooting.

I spread the crack as best I could and cleaned it with acetone before liberally applying titebond 3 to the inside and out letting it deep and work deep into the crack. It's now sitting securely in a no-mar clamp overnight. Tomorrow if all goes well ill reassemble and take the old girl out for a round of skeet.

Cheers all,
Pat

Pat,

Hope your repair works great and you get another 50 years out of the old girl.

Gotta keep them M37's shooting.

Let us know if the repair works out for you.
