HI all. I am a new member, but long time fan of the Fox gun. I have visited this forum on many occasions and am continually amazed at the knowledge of the AHFCA members. With that in mind, I have a question. I have recently been lucky enough to pick up a 20 ga C grade at a private estate sale. It appears to be a late Utica gun, I think 1935 vintage. My question concerns the engraving on the bottom of the frame. I have owned several other Fox guns and seen pictures of many. In all cases that I have seen the engraving on the bottom of the low to mid grade guns was of either a single fox or a single hunting dog, usually a setter. The engraving on this gun sports a brace of setters. Has anyone come across this in the past? The gun appears all original and is in very good condition. I apologize as I do not know how to post a picture on the site to help with this question.
Again, thanks for any input.

Re: C Grade engraving
Welcome to "The Church of Ansley H", Kimber. Congrats on your new find!! Man, now that's my kind of estate sale!!!
The only Fox I own that sports a pair of setters, is a 1914, D-grade. My C's all have the single setter on point. Truthfully,
I never gave that feature much thought. Obviously a second dog took more time ( more $$ in labor), so why would they do it...
especially on a late gun, when the financial health of the company and the world around them was crumbling?? If you would like
to email me your pics, I will gladly post on your behalf. I'll try to take a pic later this afternoon of the D- pattern. Would be interesting to see if they are one in the same.-----S

Thanks Tool Man. I have a business trip to get ready for so I can't grab any picture right now. I will try to take some later in the week and I will email them to you. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of your D grade pups.
