EARLY FOX

Post by huntdoc »

Hi all, purched about 5 years ago "the sterlingworth" fox 12 stamped philadelphia made fluid compressed steel barrels. very tight action with lever far right, 28 inch barrels with mirror bores, case colors and bluing look to be 95% or better. serial # 50782 which places this pin gun about 1910 from reading books and forums. gun may be an early delgreco restoration per one dealer. want some idea of value and how to tell if restored and if restored how does this change value? huntdoc

Huntdoc,

To make any kind of assessment of the gun being re-case colored, we would need some good pictures of the gun with good close ups of the receiver, etc..

Value if restored would depend on how well it was done. Some people like them redone, some don't.

Let's see some pictures.

I wouldn't base much on info from that dealer. Delgrego does Parker guns.

The DelGrego family specializes in Parker Bros. and Remington Model 32s. I doubt they would have refurbished a Fox. The Savage factory was doing refurbishments into the late 1960s and then that business was spun off to Mitzie Bielin, much like Remington spun off Parker and Model 32 work to Larry DelGrego. Mitzie didn't have a family of a mind set to continue the business like the DelGregos.

Since it's a pin gun maybe they thought it was a Parker :D .
