Fox Skeet & Upland 16 gauge
Fox Skeet & Upland 16 gauge
My son and I went together and purchased a dream gun a Fox Skeet & Upland 16 gauge in treffic condition. We are really proud to own this gun. What products are best to care for the wood and the metal ?

Congratulations you have a gun that you and your son can be proud of. You will probably get many recommendations for products but I prefer to break my guns down into two categories. If the gun in question will be used hard in the field under moderate to severe conditions I treat the metal with a good quality automobile wax, the ones without abrasive polishing compound or one of the newer poly metal polishes. For the wood I use plain old Johnson's paste wax. After each use I wipe down the metal with Breakfree. For the closet queens or guns I use lightly in fair conditions I dont bother with the wax/metal polish and just use the Breakfree which does not evaporate over time and protects the metal well. I suppose a bit of Renaissance wax would do nicely but I haven't felt the compulsion to use it.cbowen wrote:My son and I went together and purchased a dream gun a Fox Skeet & Upland 16 gauge in treffic condition.
