Post by sjh333 »

If a guns chambers measure 2 5/8" , is it for 2 3/4" shells....Also this gun was built 1920...would modern low pressure (like ,AA Winchester) shells be OK?...Or should I stick with RST shells?

Thanks

This topic has been hashed to death in numerous past threads which no doubt accounts for the lack of replies by the regulars here. One reply often prompts another question, and then the guy who replied gets sucked in, and feels obligated to spend more and more time answering. I'd suggest you use the search function to find threads on this topic, and read thru them at your leisure. N.B. if you're not a paying member, you'll only get the ones on the public forums. Bottom line: so called low brass/low base shells from the big factories are not low pressure; they're loaded to industry max pressures to function gas operated guns. And, most all modern shell boxes carry prominent warnings to the effect that the shells within must only be used in modern firearms in good condition that were originally chambered for that length shell. No A H Fox shotgun of Philly or Savage vintage can be considered modern, and no responsible person is going to tell you to ignore the important factory safety warning cited here. Finis for me. I am brand new to this forum , as you can tell by the number of post and am trying to learn from knowledgeable people here until my application to the A.H.Fox Collectors Assoc has been recieved and processed so I can gain more info...I will do as you suggested ,using the search function to read replys and comments , since this has been obviously been discussed to death....Also I have recently purchased Micheal McIntosh's book on Fox Guns and am waiting to recieve it for info.
